The App That Can Save a Life

There’s an app for that…

Of course you have heard the cheesy and possibly even pretentious claim by almighty Apple that there is an app for everything, and in many ways, they are not far off the mark. I never cease to be amazed at the overabundance of apps that really can (just about) do anything.

But just as fun as the apps are the parodies that have followed. These five are compliments of appft.com:

If you want to take over the world, there’s an app for that.

If you pity the fool, there’s an app for that.

If you have dinosaur DNA lying around and aren’t sure what to do with it, there’s an app for that.

If you wanted to know what Willis was talking about, there’s an app for that.

And being a Terminator fan, my personal favorite is: If you need to stop Skynet from eradicating humanity, there’s an app for that.

Of course, all of these would be awesome to have if they were real, but now there is an app available to you that (for real) could read something like this: If you want to help save someone’s soul and you happen to own a smartphone, there’s an app for that.

Kinda sounds like a joke at first—right? But Dare 2 Share has released an app that enables you to give a clear and concise presentation of the gospel, and if you have friends who are unsure of their eternal destiny and need Jesus, this is the app for that!

It’s called Life in 6 Words, and it is something I wish I would have had available when I was in Middle School and High School, because those six years of your life represent the biggest and best opportunity to share the good news that you may ever have in your entire lifetime!

Why? Think about these facts:

• The vast majority of people who come to Christ do so before the age of 18.
• You are surrounded by more people who need Christ than you probably ever will be again.
• You have more freedom to share Jesus in school than you will in most work environments.

And now with the Life in 6 Words app, you don’t need to worry about how to begin a conversation or how you will explain the gospel, because it is all there in the palm of your hand!

I was thinking about how the early church was able to literally change the world for THE Cause without the Internet, emails, satellite, Facebook or apps.  Then I came across this statement from the Apostle Paul that shed great light on how they did it:

I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus (Acts 20:20-21).

Do you see what’s happening here?  The early Christians did not rely solely upon “friendship evangelism” to reach their communities with the gospel.  From what we read here, the example Paul set was for them to declare the good news “publicly” and—perhaps more importantly—from “house to house.”

In other words, when the opportunity came to share the gospel for the sake of Christ’s cause, the early Christians were ready and able to lead people to Christ.  These opportunities came in the form of friendship to be sure, but they also presented themselves in public speaking opportunities and with the disciples going “house to house.”

And now what excuse do we have?  With the Life in 6 Words app, we can share the gospel with our friends, but we also need to be ready to share with those we don’t already know well.

Oh, and bonus—what if you used the app to train your friends in how to share the gospel, as well?  This is the heart of making disciples who make disciples, and it is our calling and responsibility to help others become knowledgeable and trained in sharing Jesus’ message of grace with their friends, too!

Read: 1 Corinthians 9:16. Yet preaching the Good News is not something I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn’t preach the Good News!
