OUR HISTORY
Our first year as a ministry
During our first year as a ministry, Dare 2 Share absorbed a building, computers and equipment when another non-profit closed down, giving us a base of operations and resources to begin doing ministry more effectively.
1991First evangelism training conferences
In 1992, we held our first evangelism training conferences. The first event had 100 students in an auditorium that seated 2100. The second training conference had 75 attendees, the third, just 11.
1992No budgets, creativity and prayer
Traveling for those first no-budget years, doing training conferences with life-long friends took some imagination. Our production resources were mostly prayer, creativity, a few portable speakers, a foot locker full of props and duct tape.
1993Debbie Bresina comes on staff
Debbie Bresina came on as a volunteer in 1993 and started asking some much needed questions. In 1995, she came on as Dare 2 Shareās first full-time employee.
1994Our first out of state conferences
We did our first out of state conferences in 1995-1996 in Wheatland, Wyoming, Detroit, Michigan, and Houston Texas.
1995Name officially changed to āDare 2 Shareā
After realizing that āWarriors for Christā was a name that carried some violent connotations we officially changed the name to Dare 2 Share.
1996Separate from Tandem Ministries
In 1997, Dare 2 Share officially became its own entity, separating amicably from Tandem Ministries. Greg Stier became the new President of Dare 2 Share.
1997Given a new truck to fit conference gear
We were gifted a new 1998 Brooks and Dunn edition Volvo tractor-trailer truck in 1997! We could fit all of our sound and lighting gear in the cab.
1997First D2S event in St. Louis, MO
In the fall of 1997, we did our first Dare 2 Share event in St. Louis, MO. We had 247 in attendance and a huge stage presence, complete with major sounds, lights and special effects!
1997Coordinate outreach for DC/LA
In summer of 1997, we coordinated the evangelism outreach experience for Youth for Christās DC/LA Evangelism Super Conference. It was a privilege to share the Gospel with thousands in the streets of DC and LA.
1997Conference breaks 1000 in attendance
In the spring of 1999, we broke 1,000 in attendance for the first time at our Atlanta Conference!
1999Columbine High School massacre
On April 20th, 1999 the Columbine High School massacre took place just outside of Denver. After much prayer and consulting, Greg Stier resigned from the church that he was pastoring to do Dare 2 Share full-time.
1999Danny Oertli begins traveling with D2S
Starting in 1999, we had the privilege to travel with Danny Oertli for several years. His worship excellence and life story had a huge impact on me and thousands of teenagers.
1999Rolly Richert and Holly Ingels join team
Rolly Richert and Holly Ingels began traveling with us and took Dare 2 Share conferences to the next level. Rolly went to be with the Lord a few years ago, but Holly is still helping us produce our events.
2001Youth Ministry book āOutbreakā published
Greg wrote his first book, Outbreakā¦ Creating a Contagious Youth Ministry, in 2002 with Moody Publishing. This was his first real entry into training youth leaders to lead the way when it came to evangelism.
2002Partner with BGEA for week-long training
In the summer of 2002, we partnered with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to train 240 teenagers and youth leaders. This gave us confidence that we had enough content to train teenagers for a week.
2002Train 172K men at Promise Keepers events
In 2003, we were able to train over 172,000 men to share their faith across the nation through the Promise Keepers events held from coast to coast.
2003Receive first and only million-dollar gift
In 2004, we received our first (and only) million-dollar gift. A businessman and ministry partner called Greg out of the blue and gave him the heart-stopping, soul-shaking, Kingdom advancing news while he was on his way to the airport.
2004Meet Zane Black through filming reality series
The evangelism-centered āreality seriesā Gospel Journey and Gospel Journey Maui video curriculums reached tens of thousands of teenagers with the gospel and introduced us to Zane Black.
2006Period of growth, train 50,000 teens in year
From 2002-2007, Dare 2 Share experienced massive growth and finally broke 9,000 in attendance at our St. Louis conference! At our largest, we did 11 events and trained almost 50,000 teenagers in one school year.
2007Learn power of prayer through recession
During the Great Recession of 2008, we learned the power of prayer as we experienced a major donor drop-off and almost didnāt make it as a ministry. God used this recession as a progression to our faith and to teach us to lead the way on our knees.
2008First full week Lead THE Cause training
In 2012, Dare 2 Share did our first full-week Lead THE Cause training at Colorado Christian University. Here, we trained students and leaders to cultivate and spread a gospel movement.
2012Shift focus to Gospel Advancing Ministries
In 2013, we commissioned a research project on youth ministry evangelism, discovering that our conferences were very effective in inspiring teenagers to evangelize, but they were not as effective in the long-term results. We began shifting our focus to Gospel Advancing Ministries.
2013Debbie Bresina becomes President of D2S
We headed to Israel in 2015 with 150 ministry leaders with the Global Youth Initiative and Sonlife to walk where Jesus walked and conspire with key country leaders. Here, God put it in Greg Stier's heart to begin to really āgo globalā and he put it on Debbie Bresinaās heart to accept the position of President.
2015Revise mission to open global impact
In August of 2016, our Board of Directors voted to say āYESā to a new mission statement that would open up our ministry to make a global impact, āEnergizing the Church to Mobilize youth to Gospelize their world!ā
2016D2S Conferences come to an end, and Dare 2 Share LIVE launches
Traditional conferences as we knew them come to a close, but our national, live simulcast event launchesĀ nationwide with over 500 churches participating.Ā
