A few weeks back, the Skit Guys and Dare 2 Share’s Greg Stier teamed up for the “Getting Serious with the Skit Guys about Evangelism” webinar. So how did the whole “getting serious” part of it go?
The trio presented deep theological truths, compelling reasons for student evangelism training, and great encouragement for those in the trenches of youth ministry. But it was all flavored with humor and wit—just what the Skit Guys are famous for!
Tommy Woodard and Eddie James make up the hilarious Skit Guys duo. Through drama skits and videos, they use humor to open audiences’ hearts before seamlessly weaving in biblical truths. At the webinar, Tommy and Eddie drew upon their years of experience in youth and pastoral ministry to talk through strategies that work—as well as some that don’t—for reaching teenagers in 2018. And since Greg, Tommy, and Eddie all grew up as teenagers in the 1980s, they spent some time comparing their era to what teen culture looks like today.
“That’s a key difference between then and now—teenagers needed a place to socialize, they needed a place to hang out,” Tommy explained.
“It was the mall, and on Wednesday nights it was church because that’s where I could go be with my friends! Now through smart phones and social media, students are together all the time. They don’t need a place to go.”
So, since teenagers and their social habits have changed so much since the ‘80s, what does that mean for youth ministry?
“With this post-Christian generation—Generation Z—that is so very busy, we have to change our strategies,” Greg chimed in. “I think we keep the ‘invite your friends out to youth group’ [strategy], but also really equip our young people to articulate the gospel.”

Why Dare 2 Share LIVE?
The Skit Guys initially linked arms with Dare 2 Share at the first ever Dare 2 Share LIVE event last year. “If you haven’t ever been a part of [LIVE], it’s a wonderful thing,” said Eddie.
Turning to Greg, he said, “You equip students on how to share their faith, and as a former youth minister, I remember sitting on the sidelines of that day going ‘Ugh! I missed the mark as a youth worker because I did not teach [teens] the fluency of how to share their faith like this.’”
The Skit Guys are joining Greg Stier again at the second Dare 2 Share LIVE happening on October 13th, 2018. The evangelism training team will also include speaker Zane Black, rap artist FLAME, and worship team Shane & Shane. There are already 90 Satellite Sites signed up to host LIVE in churches all across the country, and we want to see your and your students at one of them!
If you want your students to become fluent in the gospel message and passionate about sharing it with the lost, consider bringing them to Dare 2 Share LIVE at a location near you. Find the Satellite Site nearest you and get your group registered today, or sign up here to receive more updates and information about tickets and locations as the event gets closer.
