If you could describe your ministry in three words, what would they be, and why did you choose them?
The three words I would use are dynamic, transformative, and empowering. I bring a high level of energy to youth group. You never quite know what I might do or say next—so I guess you could say I keep students on their toes! But more than anything, my goal is to see them transformed by the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit, and then to see them empowered to live out whatever God calls them to do.
How do you connect with your students individually?
My favorite way to connect with students is to meet them in places where they are most comfortable—going to their games and events, grabbing a cup of coffee with them, and otherwise supporting them in what matters most to them. But more than anything, connecting with my students is about listening well and consistently showing up so they know I care.
What is something you do to reset and find spiritual renewal?
One of the most spiritually refreshing things for me is being out in nature. Walking on the beach, hiking in the woods, or sitting by a lake; it doesn’t really matter where. I love marveling at the beauty of God’s creation and simply being still.
For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to Him.
The sea is His, for He made it,
and His hands formed the dry land.Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for He is our God
and we are the people of His pasture,
the flock under His care. Psalm 95:4-7
