Scott Tinman, youth pastor at Findlay Evangelical Free Church in Ohio, knows how evangelism training can set teens on fire for the gospel. Scott has been taking his students to Dare 2 Share conferences for years, so when he heard that Dare 2 Share was transitioning from conferences to a live simulcast event, he knew his church had to get involved.
“My senior pastor wants me to do anything I can to train and equip my students to share the gospel, so being a part of Dare 2 Share LIVE was an easy decision,” he said. “LIVE lines up with our mission and values as a church, since our church’s tagline is ‘Rooted deep with God and reaching wide to the world.’”
Dare 2 Share LIVE harnesses local churches to host the event and to equip students to share the gospel in their own communities. A church that is a satellite site for LIVE can become the hub for gospel advancement in their city, like the 68 churches who hosted the event in 2017.
“The motivation for me was to be able to reach our community. We can follow up with the people that we meet as we work to have long-lasting impact in our area,” Scott explained.
Dare 2 Share LIVE—Not Just for the Kids
As the day of LIVE drew closer, Scott asked his congregation for volunteers to help make the day a success, and multiple people stepped up to help.
“I had a ton of people wanting to volunteer for us. I had adults engaging with our youth ministry that never had before, doing concessions, merchandise, check-in, etc.,” Scott said. “That opened the door to our church for other adults to see what the youth were doing.”
When Scott saw his volunteers interacting with students and engaging in the event, he realized that LIVE’s impact was reaching much farther than just the one-day training.
“The volunteers sat in and saw what the students were being taught,” Scott explained. “They were engaging in worship. They heard the stories of outreach and saw the bags of food that students came back with.”
Dare 2 Share LIVE was jumpstarting the whole church—teens and adults alike—to be on mission to spread the gospel.
“It created a buzz in our church and a buzz about God and how He used this [event],” he said. “It’s a great event to raise the temperature and raise the bar for every church member to be looking for opportunities to talk about the gospel.”
After experiencing all that LIVE had to offer last year, Scott’s church is all in for round two on October 13th, 2018.
