Rachel knew that she wanted to reach her high school for Christ, but she wasn’t sure how. When she went to Lead THE Cause one summer, she was given the strategy, tools, and experience to start a gospel movement that God used in incredible ways. Here is Rachel’s story in her own words:

The summer before my senior year I attended Lead THE Cause, an evangelism training week led by Dare 2 Share. While I was there, I felt like I was being called to go out and reach my high school for the Lord. I was already leading a Bible study at Chaska High School, but I wanted to do something that would make a larger impact for Christ.

I had remembered seeing promotional clips of MyStory events at high schools in my area. MyStory is an evangelical event that consists of entertainment, student testimonies, and ends with a presentation of the gospel. This seemed like the perfect avenue to reach my peers. While I was at Lead THE Cause, I wrote out a plan for how to accomplish this.

I then met with a teacher at Chaska, who also felt like she was being called to reach our school. We felt it was important to unite the two Christian clubs that were already established at Chaska to accomplish our goal. We assembled a leadership team of fifteen students and began planning with the help of our local churches. We had many planning meetings, but most importantly, we met three times a week before school during the planning process to pray for each student by name.

We ended up having over 500 people come out to the MyStory event, and 50 people made first time decisions for Christ.

After the event was over, the leaders had follow up discussions with those who had responded to theĀ gospel. We tried to get them plugged into the Christian clubs already available at Chaska High.

The event ended up having a huge impact for the Christian community at my school. The two clubs were united for the first time, which caused a sense of community that had never been present before. God also taught us how to be bold in sharing our faith with those around us.

Personally, I learned that as long as I am willing to do what God is calling me to do, He will provide. All I had to do was take one small step out of my comfort zone, and God did the rest.
