Chicago Teens Set the Tone for a Strong ‘Lead THE Cause’ Summer

Summer is the best season of the year for most teenagers because it promises a break from all the worries of school. For a few warm months, there aren’t any hard classes to stress about or big sports games to win. Work might still be in the picture, but there’s a bigger chance to indulge in glorious mornings of sleeping in, lazy days by the pool, and turning their brains “off” for a little while.

A group of over 500 students in the Chicago area, however, decided to spend this week of their summer vacation a little bit differently. Rather than turning their brains “off,” these young disciples chose to keep their minds, hearts, and souls fully engaged as they dove into a week-long urban mission trip and evangelism training at Lead THE Cause (LTC).

LTC 2017

The training that this week’s attendees underwent took them deeper into the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—young men in the Bible who stood firm in their faith and weren’t afraid to share it with others, even when faced with the danger of the lions’ den and the heat of a fiery furnace.

But the training went much further than simply telling students about Bible heroes and the power of the gospel. In the midst of the week, students took the practical things they had learned and used them in real-world gospel conversations with people in the community, as well as with their friends who need Jesus.

Through this faith-stretching experience, many students discovered—some for the first time—what it really means to stand firm and trust in God as they gospelize their world, beginning with the streets of Chicago.

Chicago is the first of four cities across America that are going to be hit with the powerful gospel message coming from these Jesus-loving teens, and Austin, Denver, and Washington, D.C. are next on the list for LTC this summer.

We’re so excited that Jesus and gospel-advancement will be at the center of every training session, gospel conversation, and heart of each student that attends a Lead THE Cause mission trip throughout the summer. This event provides an incredibly transformative experience for young Christians to learn how to share the gospel simply and fully for the rest of their lives, and we want all students to get this chance to become stronger, bolder witnesses for Christ.

Make sure to keep Lead THE Cause 2018 on your radar and sign up for event updates and deadlines if your youth group couldn’t make it to one of this year’s events!
