Prayer should be the foundation of everything we do as Gospel Advancing leaders, and prayer that has been prepared in advance can be powerful. Pray this prayer with the students you’re discipling, or modify it to make it your own. Then challenge them to pray the same prayer with their Gospel Advancing peers. A liturgical prayer can be an excellent addition to your ministry’s Gospel Advancing prayer practices.
Confess the times you have lost focus.
Heavenly Father,
We come to you amid challenging times. In times of fear and injustice. Times of wars and rumors of wars. You have given us the Gospel to share and people to disciple. We pray we will be faithful with what you have asked us to tend to. We confess that we have often allowed ourselves to be distracted from advancing the Gospel by the things of this world. Lord, for the sake of your Son, forgive us for the times we have made other things more important than you. Forgive us for the times we have focused on things other than Jesus Christ.
Ask the Lord to raise a generation.
We pray, Lord, that you will raise up a generation of Gospel advancers. Would your Holy Spirit’s fire ignite within the hearts of our young people? Give us wisdom and strength to love people into becoming disciples who make disciples. Cause us to be so passionate about sharing the Gospel that our passion spreads to everyone we meet. We pray that soon, every teen, everywhere, would hear the Gospel from a friend. We pray that your Spirit would move quickly. Yet, we also trust your perfect timing. King Jesus, please return soon!
Give all glory to God.
We know that you are working all things for the good of your Church. We know that one day every teen will hear the Gospel, and we thank you for graciously inviting us to join in the work that you are already doing throughout the world. Would everything we say and do point people to you? For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
Amen

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
