The Simple Power of "Why not?"

As part of the Radical Like Jesus “Serve” challenge, a group of middle schoolers visited a local elderly care home—expecting to just simply serve, but instead experienced God working through them in a powerful way.

One group of boys met a resident known as Grandpa R.

To break the ice, the boys performed a simple rope magic trick. After some laughs, one of them asked if Grandpa R would like to become a Christian. He shared that he was terminally ill and unsure. Gently, one student asked, “Why not?”

That question opened the door. Grandpa R spoke of his fears, and the boys responded with compassion, reminding him of God’s love. Moments later, he said yes.

They gathered around him as he prayed to receive Christ. Smiling afterward, he said he felt lighter—and even joked he felt like he could run again. 🏃
