15-16 Annual Report
Twenty-five years ago, we founded the ministry that is now known as Dare 2 Share. We didn’t have a building or a bank account. God just planted the seed of an idea to train teenagers and equip them for a lifetime of living on mission for the gospel. Since then, God has turned the ministry into a movement that has mobilized more than one million teenagers across the United States to advance His Kingdom one gospel conversation at a time.
Reflecting on the last two and a half decades has been immensely encouraging to me. It has clarified my personal vision for the future potential of Dare 2 Share. I am absolutely convinced that we are on the brink of another Great Awakening and that teenagers are going to play an integral role in reaching our world for Jesus Christ.
This vision is grand, so we’ve spent months wrestling with God, our board and our team to redefine our mission statement. We believe the following mission statement encapsulates our robust and global focus for our next season of ministry: “Energizing the Church to Mobilize their youth to Gospelize their world!”

Last year Greg and I received an invitation to attend an international summit in Israel sponsored by Global Youth Initiative. We were a part of the Sonlife North American team, one of our strategic partners. There were over 150 country leaders in attendance, all of whom were passionate about multiplying disciples. What a blessing it was for us to meet so many like-minded leaders from around the world!
The summit marked a significant moment for us as a ministry. Before we went to Israel we had known that many leaders around the world were using Dare 2 Share resources and tools, but we were so focused on our ministry here in the US that we didn’t take much notice. God used the interactions with these leaders to prompt us to consider the need for youth to be mobilized for His Kingdom throughout the rest of the world.

To reach a generation around the world,
“Greg and the D2S team have an incredible history of pursuing and glorifying Jesus Christ and God has used them mightily to grow and train members of His Kingdom. Our church has been bringing our youth to conferences for over a decade and I absolutely love and appreciate everything about the Dare 2 Share ministry – clear gospel presentation and teaching, great materials and resources for students, training for youth leaders, well done events that point students to Jesus. Thank you Greg and team for your contagious energy and passion for Jesus and growing the Kingdom!”
–Jeremy Wising, Youth Leader
“I am a by-product of Dare 2 Share. 19 years ago, in the spring of 1996, my youth group at Praise Center Church in Denver took me to a Dare 2 Share event. It was Dare 2 Share that challenged me to share my faith with my peers. I am now a youth pastor in Southern Maryland where we are passionate about connecting the disconnected to Christ, Community and Cause.”
–Gerard Torrez, Maryland (Youth Leader)
Lead THE Cause Attendance
“My life changed after I attended my first Lead THE Cause (LTC) in 2014. No other camp or retreat has ever challenged me in the way the LTC has. I left with a desire to share my faith with my friends and desire to know Jesus more. The desires have remained permanent nearly 3 years later. I have realized how much of a difference God can make in this world through teenagers who are willing to say YES and Lead THE Cause!”
–Helen, Majestic View Church (Student)
A transformation of youth ministry
Our unique approach to inspirational, yet practical training prepares the youth leader for what we call “Gospel Advancing Ministry.” This value-based philosophy is easily adoptable and adaptable, no matter what denomination, demographic, or size of youth ministry. In addition to live all-day training events for leaders and their teams, we also offer a wide array of free webinar training along with podcasts and other videos and resources via our website and mobile apps. We are committed to coaching and encouraging youth leaders through a team of dedicated staff who are also constantly providing insight for additional tools and resources. Our goal is to see youth ministry transformed as youth leaders prioritize evangelism. As a result, their groups will grow numerically through new believers that have been reached by their teens. Their teens will also grow spiritually as they share their faith with their friends.
A generation through a generation
40% of the world’s population is under the age of 25, making youth the most fertile mission field in the world. Because teenagers have one hundred times more influence with their friends than any adult, the best people to reach youth are the youth themselves. By developing cutting edge events and tools for relational evangelism among teens, Dare 2 Share mobilizes this generation to advance the gospel. For 25 years, Dare 2 Share has led the way with high-impact student conferences. Now, the vision is to move to a live coast-to-coast simulcast where tens of thousands of teens are unleashed to share the gospel in one day. Whether it’s a catalytic event or an evangelistic video that has gone viral, Dare 2 Share is committed to doing whatever it takes to reach this generation where they are at with tools and resources to reach their friends for Jesus Christ. We won’t stop until every teen has heard the gospel from a friend.
A movement of multipliers
Multiplication was encoded in the DNA of the gospel movement from the very beginning. Starting with 12 ordinary young men, the gospel rapidly advanced as they made and multiplied more disciples across entire regions. With this Biblical example as our guide, the final pillar in our model is all about creating a movement of multipliers. Dare 2 Share’s summer events around the country called Lead THE Cause are week-long urban mission trips that train teens and leaders for a life on mission. The strategy also includes a track at Lead THE Cause for indigenous leaders around the world. Here they will be trained to train others – helping us to “grow globally” rather than “go international.”
The summer before my senior year I attended Lead THE Cause, an evangelism training week led by Dare 2 Share. While I was there, I felt like I was being called to go out and reach my high school for the Lord. I was already leading a Bible study at Chaska High School, but I wanted to do something that would make a larger impact for Christ. I had remembered seeing promotional clips of MyStory events at high schools in my area. MyStory is an evangelical event that consists of entertainment, student testimonies, and ends with a presentation of the gospel. This seemed like the perfect avenue to reach my peers. While I was at Lead THE Cause, I wrote out a plan for how to accomplish this. I then met with a teacher at Chaska, who also felt like she was being called to reach our school. We felt it was important to unite the two Christian clubs that were already established at Chaska to accomplish our goal. We assembled a leadership team of fifteen students and began planning with the help of our local churches. We had many planning meetings, but most importantly, we met three times a week before school during the planning process to pray for each student by name.
We ended up having over 500 people come out to the MyStory event, and 50 people made first time decisions for Christ.
After the event was over, the leaders had follow up discussions with those who had responded to the gospel. We tried to get them plugged into the Christian clubs already available at Chaska High. The event ended up having a huge impact for the Christian community at my school. The two clubs were united for the first time, which caused a sense of community that had never been present before. God also taught us how to be bold in sharing our faith with those around us. Personally, I learned that as long as I am willing to do what God is calling me to do, He will provide. All I had to do was take one small step out of my comfort zone, and God did the rest.
PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION
DONOVAN OLDING – GO LIVE DAREWith a vision to see the youth in South Africa reached with the hope of Jesus Christ, Don and his small, but strong team use sports, drama, and dance to inspire and train. In April of 2016, Go-Live-Dare presented the first international Lead THE Cause event with 180 in attendance. They have also trained youth pastors in many regions of their country and translated Dare 2 Share’s Life in 6 Words evangelism tool into Afrikaans.
CALLUM THOMAS – TORCHBEARERS INT.As a young leader at Capernwray Australia, a Torchbearers International Bible school, Callum first caught the vision for Gospel Advancing Ministry by attending a Lead THE Cause event in Chicago. DARE 2 SHARE ALSO WORKED WITH THE FOLLOWING MINISTRIES THIS YEAR:
25 milestones in our 25 years of ministry
Our first year as a ministry
During our first year as a ministry, Dare 2 Share absorbed a building, computers and equipment when another non-profit closed down, giving us a base of operations and resources to begin doing ministry more effectively.
First evangelism training conferences
In 1992, we held our first evangelism training conferences. The first event had 100 students in an auditorium that seated 2100. The second training conference had 75 attendees, the third, just 11.
No budgets, creativity and prayer
Traveling for those first no-budget years, doing training conferences with my life-long friends took some imagination. Our production resources were mostly prayer, creativity, a few portable speakers, a foot locker full of props and duct tape.
Debbie Bresina comes on staff
Debbie Bresina came on as a volunteer in 1993 and started asking some much needed questions. In 1995, she came on as Dare 2 Share’s first full-time employee.
Our first out of state conferences
We did our first out of state conferences in 1995-1996 in Wheatland, Wyoming, Detroit, Michigan, and Houston Texas.
Name officially changed to “Dare 2 Share”
After realizing that “Warriors for Christ” was a name that carried some violent connotations we officially changed the name to Dare 2 Share.
Separate from Tandem Ministries
In 1997, Dare 2 Share officially became it’s own entity, separating amicably from Tandem Ministries. I became the new President of Dare 2 Share.
Given a new truck to fit conference gear
We were gifted a new 1998 Brooks and Dunn edition Volvo tractor-trailer truck in 1997! We could fit all of our sound and lighting gear in the cab.
First D2S event in St. Louis, MO
In the fall of 1997, we did our first Dare 2 Share event in St. Louis, MO. We had 247 in attendance and a huge stage presence, complete with major sounds, lights and special effects!
Coordinate outreach for DC/LA
In summer of 1997, we coordinated the evangelism outreach experience for Youth for Christ’s DC/LA Evangelism Super Conference. It was a privilege to share the gospel with thousands in the streets of DC and LA.
Conference breaks 1000 in attendance
In the spring of 1999, we broke 1,000 in attendance for the first time at our Atlanta Conference!
Columbine High School massacre
On April 20th, 1999 the Columbine High School massacre took place just outside of Denver. After much prayer and consulting, I resigned from the church that I was pastoring to do Dare 2 Share full-time.
Danny Oertli begins traveling with D2S
Starting in 1999, I had the privilege to travel with Danny Oertli for several years. His worship excellence and life story had a huge impact on me and thousands of teenagers.
Rolly Richert and Holly Ingels join team
Rolly Richert and Holly Ingels began traveling with us and took Dare 2 Share conferences to the next level. Rolly went to be with the Lord a few years ago, but Holly is still helping us produce our events.
Youth Ministry book “Outbreak” published
I wrote my first book, Outbreak… Creating a Contagious Youth Ministry, in 2002 with Moody Publishing. This was my first real entry into training youth leaders to lead the way when it came to evangelism.
Partner with BGEA for week-long training
In the summer of 2002, we partnered with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to train 240 teenagers and youth leaders. This gave us confidence that we had enough content to train teenagers for a week.
Train 172K men at Promise Keepers events
In 2003, we were able to train over 172,000 men to share their faith across the nation through the Promise Keepers events held from coast to coast.
Receive first and only million-dollar gift
In 2004, we received our first (and only) million-dollar gift. A businessman and ministry partner called me out of the blue and gave me the heart-stopping, soul-shaking, kingdom advancing news while I was on my way to the airport.
Meet Zane Black through filming reality series
The evangelism-centered “reality series” Gospel Journey and Gospel Journey Maui video curriculums reached tens of thousands of teenagers with the gospel and introduced us to Zane Black.
Period of growth, train 50,000 teens in year
From 2002-2007, Dare 2 Share experienced massive growth and finally broke 9,000 in attendance at our St. Louis conference! At our largest, we did 11 events and trained almost 50,000 teenagers in one school year.
Learn power of prayer through recession
During the Great Recession of 2008, we learned the power of prayer as we experienced a major donor drop-off and almost didn’t make it as a ministry. God used this recession as a progression to our faith and to teach us to lead the way on our knees.
First full week Lead THE Cause training
In 2012, Dare 2 Share did our first full-week Lead THE Cause training at Colorado Christian University. Here, we trained students and leaders to cultivate and spread a gospel movement.
Shift focus to Gospel Advancing Ministries
In 2013, we commissioned a research project on youth ministry evangelism, discovering that our conferences were very effective in inspiring teenagers to evangelize, but they were not as effective in the long-term results. We began shifting our focus to Gospel Advancing Ministries.
Debbie Bresina becomes President of D2S
We headed to Israel in 2015 with 150 ministry leaders with the Global Youth Initiative and Sonlife to walk where Jesus walked and conspire with key country leaders. Here, God put it in my heart to begin to really “go global” and he put it on Debbie Bresina’s heart to accept the position of President.
Revise mission to open global impact
In August of 2016, our Board of Directors voted to say “YES” to a new mission statement that would open up our ministry to make a global impact, “Energizing the Church to Mobilize youth to Gospelize their world!”
