Wasn't Satan just made up to explain evil?
There are a lot of people who believe that the devil is not real. They believe that he was made up to explain why we have evil in the world. Oftentimes the people who believe this have college degrees and spend time philosophizing and rationalizing the world in terms of what they can see. Anything they can't see, test and prove is immediately rejected as false. These same people often view those who are spiritually inclined as naïve, gullible and uneducated.
The problem with this is that the Bible speaks of the devil as someone who is dangerously real. Satan is referred to as a "he" not an "it." He is described as a powerful, personal being with massive intelligence. There is no indication in Scripture that the Prince of Darkness is a made up myth.
From the third chapter of the Bible until the last chapter of the Bible Satan is referred to hundreds of times as a reality. So, if Satan is just a made up myth, then so is all of Scripture.
