Isn't Satan a weak creature?
Some people think the devil is a wuss. They are wrong. He is the biggest, strongest, smartest and fiercest creation of God. Bottom line: Satan has no equal among all of that which God has made.
There is a pretty blunt section of Scripture that tells us how we should view Satan:
"In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, 'The Lord rebuke you!' Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand...." Jude 8-10
Basically Jude is telling us that we shouldn't dis the devil for two main reasons:
- It's something stupid people do.
Jude calls them "dreamers." In other words they are living in their own little fantasy world. It is stupid to pick a fight with the devil.
- It's something angels never do.
The strongest angel of God, Michael, didn't dare try to take Satan on himself. Why? Because Satan would beat him to a pulp in a fist fight. So if God's toughest angel couldn't beat the devil and wouldn't pick a fight with Satan, why would we?
Notice what Michael did when he had his showdown with the devil. He said, "The Lord rebuke you!" In other words Michael ran to Jesus for help! He depended on the Lord to defeat Satan and not on himself! That's exactly what we should do. When the devil wants to throw down with us we trust in God and ask Him to defeat this evil and powerful enemy.
