I go to a Christian School. What am I supposed to do for outreach?

You must be much more intentional and creative when it comes to evangelism because you don't have the same strategic advantage as public school teens. They are surrounded day after day with lost teenagers. You are not. But you also have an advantage over public school students when it comes to outreach. You get to pick your "campus!" It may be your neighborhood, a nearby shopping mall, or a local public school. You get to choose your outreach target!

If you go to Christian school:

  • Pray that God will give you some key friends from your Christian school who will help you reach out to your community with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
  • Ask a handful of students (who are serious about Jesus Christ) to meet weekly (at a set time and place) to pray for and plan for revival on your campus!
  • Make sure that at least once a month you all go out to share the gospel (local mall, nearby public school campus, etc.) If you go to a larger Christian school that competes against public schools in sports, you can take the opportunity to share your faith with the opposing team's fans and players.

You can still use the Prayer/Dare/Share Strategy if you have an outreach meeting (Christian concert, crusade, youth group event, etc.) to invite your unsaved friends to attend. The problem is that many Christian school students don't know a whole lot of non-Christian students. Oftentimes the best way for them to witness is through direct contact evangelism (in a mall or door-to-door).

For follow-up, get their info (name, address, phone number) and pass it on to your church (or a church in the immediate area). The church can assist them in growing in their faith by inviting them out to the church and plugging them into a new believer's class. But don't put it all on the church. You help them grow in their newfound faith in Jesus. Get them a Bible if they don't have one. If they are interested in participating in a Bible study ask your pastor or youth pastor for help.

Being a Christian school student that wants to reach out for Jesus Christ has its challenges. But those challenges can be met with ingenuity, creativity and prayer.
