I have a question for you...if I could let you in on EXACTLY what God's will for your life is, would you want to know? Think about it - to be armed with the knowledge of what the God of the universe wants you to do each and every day. No more waiting, watching, and wanting signs and signals pointing you in the right direction, because you would know the right path each and every time.

I'm guessing your answer would be yes...yes? I know I would want to know, because as it turns out, God has a better plan for our lives than we do, so following His will is the only true way to a truly authentic and meaningful life.

Good news...I know exactly what God's will is for you. It goes way beyond the whole "not sinning" thing, and is an even higher calling than telling others about Christ. In fact, this part of God's will is the foundation for everything else in God's will. If this piece is missing, everything else falls apart like a sandcastle getting bashed with a 20 foot wave.

The really sad part about this is that most people have totally missed this one, and because of that, their lives look like a mouse frantically scampering through a maze trying to find that elusive cheese.

Here's the verse that is the key to getting out of the maze:

Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God. (I Corinthians 10:31)

Nothing fancy or complicated going on here. No secret formulas or super spiritual sounding prescription for doing God's will...put simply, God's will for you is to do everything for His glory. Another way to put this would be...worship God in everything you do.

The problem is that most Christians confine this whole "worship" thing to a 20-30 minute block of time on Sunday morning:

Worship leader: "C'mon everyone - let's WORSHIP God during the worship portion of our worship service."

People: "It's all about You...Jesus...and all this is for you..."

(20 minutes and 5 songs later)

Worship leader: "Let's close our worship time together in prayer..."

People: "Awesome! Now it's all about me...me...and all life is for me..."

That's exactly what Paul is getting at. Don't see worship as an act, see it as a way of life, because it's the way life was meant to be lived. Singing and praising God at church is one form of worship, but so is brushing your teeth, doing your best in school, obeying your parents, and telling others about Christ. That's because at the heart of worship is the basic idea of making God happy and making His name famous wherever you are and in whatever you do.

Are you seeing how this all fits together? When you get out of bed and say - "It's all about You, Jesus" instead of "it's all about me...," it changes your whole perspective. When you live just for yourself and your happiness, you are like a cat chasing its tail. Your life will feel like it's going round and round, but never quite getting anywhere. But...if you do what you were called to do-which is worship God in everything you do, the "tail" (i.e. meaning, purpose, and value) will follow you wherever God leads you.

And that's exactly where He's leading you-into a world of worship that seeks to make God happy and His name famous 24/7. If that's your basic motivation, guess what happens? Avoiding sin, telling others about Christ, reading the Bible, praying, loving God, and loving others will just come naturally.

When you see everything you do as worship, you'll worship in everything you do. That's God's will for your life...are you willing to live it?

Head: What you need to know about this truth

When you see everything you do as worshiping God, you'll worship God in everything you do.

Heart: What you need to feel about this truth

Coming back to the heart of worship starts with the heart of you. Knowing that God's fundamental will for your life is to bring Him glory should move your desires and affections away from yourself and on to God. So ask yourself, do I love and cherish anything or anyone more than God? If so, what changes need to be made so that God gets put in the #1 position?

Hands: What you need to do about this truth

Take out a piece of paper and write a thank you letter to God, telling Him why you want to bring glory to Him in everything you say and do.
