How to Share Your Faith Using Super Bowl Ads

$2.4 million for a 30 second message!

That’s what it set you back if you wanted to have a commercial air during Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6th. This four hour advertising slug-fest has gotten to the point where the commercials are almost as much a draw as the baseball game…wait, no…football game, right?

So what were some of the messages that were so important that companies would actually spend $2.4 million for 30 seconds?

Well, believe it or not, Degree now has a deodorant for men.

And if that weren’t exciting enough, we now know what kind of countertops Mike Ditka and Dennis Rodman have.

And is there anything more important than finding out that Lebron James chews Bubblicious?

Why do these companies spend so much money on a few seconds of publicity? Because they expect a return on their investment. They know that people will be talking about their ads for weeks (maybe even years) after the Super Bowl is over. These people will be carrying the message as they go about their daily routine.

Man, I sure hope all of these messages are super important. I just know that $2.4 million will help change billions of people lives because NOW WE KNOW…

…you can get a toasted sandwich at Subway.

$2.4 million is a lot of money to get a message out to a world full of people. But you know what? It doesn’t even come close to what it cost for one certain Man to get his Message out. This was the greatest message ever in the history of mankind, and it also had the highest price tag of any message ever.

I’m talking about a message that can, and will, change your life- just like it has already changed the lives of millions of people.

What is it?

You can have eternal life.

The cost of the message?

God’s very own life. You see Jesus, God who became man, came to earth and died for everyone who would ever live so that they could hear and accept the greatest message ever…you can have eternal life.

As your friends talk about the funny ads this week, there are some ways that you can take that conversation and turn it towards the cross and the greatest message ever.

Here is what you do:

When someone starts talking about the Super Bowl ads this week, point out that they cost $2.4 million for 30 seconds! Isn’t that outrageous? Then bring up that Christ’s message cost so much more, because the price tag for that message was his very life. You can then share the Gospel with those you’re talking to, letting them know that the cost was nothing in the eyes of Christ because he loved them! The return on his “investment” was more than worth it, even if only one person believed in him and was saved. Make sure you have the GOSPEL Journey down, so that you will be prepared to share the message that cost Jesus his life.

Be a walking advertisement for the God who gave His life to buy back yours!
