How to Share Your Faith Using Chuck Norris

Even Chuck Norris is baffled by the current teen phenomenon of circulating Chuck Norris jokes. From The Random Chuck Norris Fact Generator to SNL to Conan O'Brien , an estimated 40,000 Chuck Norris jokes are swirling around. And Chuck himself has weighed in with his favorites list, which includes:

  • When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
  • Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.
  • Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.
  • Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits.
  • Chuck Norris is the reason why Waldo is hiding.
  • Chuck Norris counted to infinity-twice.
  • When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down.
  • Chuck Norris is so fast, he can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.
  • There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold, so he turned the sun up.
  • Chuck Norris can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.
  • Chuck Norris doesn't wear a watch, HE decides what time it is.
  • Chuck Norris can slam a revolving door.
  • Chuck Norris does not get frostbite. Chuck Norris bites frost.

It appears that all this buzz for a 65 year old actor whose Texas Ranger series ended in 2001 and who is now only found on reruns and infomercials was initially generated by a single teenager. Since last summer, Boston University freshman Ian Spector's website of Chuck Norris Facts has generated 50 million hits, averaging 500,000 to 800,000 hits a day. "I don't do computers," Norris reportedly said. But when asked about the 50 million hits, he responded, "I don't know what that means, 50 million hits, but 50 million of anything is impressive." Sounds like there's the raw material for another Chuck Norris joke somewhere in that comment...

So what does this phenom have to do with sharing your faith? Perhaps you noticed Chuck's depicted in these jokes as one pretty powerful dude-larger than life. When you're talking with friends about the latest Chuck Norris joke, stop and think about whether your friends need to know that there really is Someone larger than life who is all-powerful? Do they need to know there is Someone who will ultimately stand on the side of right and with his all-powerful, all-knowing essence bring order and justice to the world? And if you need help explaining how this all-powerful, all-knowing Someone is also a loving God who is ready to extend the free gift of life to those who believe in Him, check out the GOSPEL Journey.

If 17 year old Ian Spector can initiate this much buzz for Chuck Norris jokes, what kind of buzz should we be generating for the REAL, all-powerful, all-knowing, larger than life Creator of the universe? One teen can have a powerful influence on what people are talking about!
