I’ll exempt myself from winning because I work for The Life Book Movement.
That said, there are 2 posts in the top 5 that tie for
my favorite:
1). “Evangelism” is Unbiblical (there I said it!) – not only because the title is one of the best blog post titles ever (it drew me straight to the post to see what it was about), but also because I love the content. Many people (adults and teens) are afraid of evangelism because they think it is hard. Others shy away from it because they think it is ugly. But as Greg says, “When you think about it, to evangelize someone with the right motives is the ultimate act of love!”
and
2). The Life Book Movement – Not just because I work for the organization, but because it mobilizes teens to commit that “ultimate act of love” so easily just by giving the Gospel as gift to their friends. Thanks Jason for writing such a great post!
Thanks Dare2Share for all you do to focus teens on living The Cause!!!
I definitely agree! ^ I don’t go to a public school, but I have a lot of friends who do and who have been impacted by the Life Book movement. It’s awesome!
I love the idea of doing a Life Book saturation. I am in a unique position of having students who attend two different high schools and a number of different middle schools. Because of the current size of our group, I am holding off on participating in a campaign, but am praying for growth and possible participation in the future.
Haven’t Read the Evangelism post but plan to now. And the Life Book movement is amazing! So many teens have given me great feedback from that book. And it’s changed their life and perspective! Great resource for teens!
I liked The Life Book movement too, especially how it tied in with See You At The Pole.
So I’m not a youth pastor, so I don’t even know if I’m eligible for this (although I do ‘lead’ a high school Bible study… does that count?) but one of my favourite posts has been the Don’t Argue… Defend (http://www.dare2share.org/blog/2012/dont-argue-defend/) post. I’m pretty argumentative in nature- I love debates and if anyone has one opinion, I’ll fight on the contrary just for the sake of argument (yeah… not exactly Christ-like… it’s hard ‘dying to self’ haha. Definitely working on fixing that! haha) That being said, it’s hard for me to tell a difference in my witnessing between arguing and defending my faith. This article was a HUGE eye-opener for me. I SO appreciate everything that yall at the d2s blog do!
First of all, Katie, I agree with you about the d2s resources for teens! They are awesome! I use them in training the teens on my team (I run a small traveling drama ministry team of teens that share the truth of the Gospel on stage for churches, youth groups, schools, etc). Sometimes we laugh when we’re reviewing “Life in 6 Words” all together because we sound like a cult! Haha! But now everyone on the team can confidently share their faith & the salvation message!
But I also want to encourage you & thank you for your honesty. None of us are perfect, which must be ok with God, because He’s still able to use us in our imperfection. I like to think of it like a piece of impressionism art. If you look up close at the individual strokes & blobs of paint & color, it’s not very beautiful, but when you step back & see all the colors come together, they make an amazing picture! So whether or not if you like to debate just for the sake of debating, done in the love of Christ, it’s still a beautiful color in His masterpiece!
Life has a way of changing & bringing us to new places that amplify ht’s important to us. I have come to realize how desperately I must pursue evangelism and how important it is to not just share the truth, but to share the passion for it! “Evangelism” is Unbiblical (there I said it!) is a call to do more than tell the truth, but to live it & to live it boldly & unashamed. We do more to share the good news when our lives model what we believe than simply what our lips let on. I hope the way we live brings about the change that makes others desperate to share their passion for Christ!
I agree! This reminds me of a sermon I heard that pushed the importance of sharing the love our Christ through words and deeds. It’s not enough to just live a good life – we need to share the Gospel…but it’s also not enough to just share the Gospel without loving people and living out our mission.
I enjoyed the review of The Master Plan of Evangelism and the video that went with it. I am new to youth ministry (at least in a vocational manner) and, as yet, have not had the opportunity to really build and grow a good group. My prayer is that we will have some young men begin to come to our group, young men that I can mentor and teach what it is to serve God and share their faith. I have nothing against young women (love the girls I have right now), but I want to see young men who will work to turn the world upside for Christ and young men who will go on to lead godly families where their children will continue their legacy.
can girls not turn the world upside down too…
I enjoyed the Why Teens will Share Their Faith post and video. Like most things in life, our kids are more likely to do what they see us model rather than what we tell them to do. I also agree with many of the comments that encourage service projects as a way of opening the door to sharing our faith. How can we meet spiritual needs while avoiding real physical needs of those around us?
I really liked that post as well
Was browsing devotion archive and came across “Persecution University” was a great article about how as Christian we WILL be persecuted and be stand firm in or faith and standing up for what we believe we too can graduate from PU. Great article going to use to share with my teens!
I Really liked the “Why Teens Will Share Their Faith” It really shows that we need to be leaders and teach/lead by example. It shows that when you actually see a youth leader or Pastor ACTUALLY living it, it will inside the Teens and they will be inspired to share there faith, plus it shows them how to.
Michael, I agree!
Reminds me of the phrase “more is caught than taught!”
I liked how “The Life Book Movement” tied in with See You At The Pole, and I also liked the ideas that “Keep it Simple” has, such as thinking of one unbelieving friend or family member to keep it a priority and spending time in prayer for that indivisual.
Having just returned from Lead the Cause University, I can echo the sentiment of the blog post Keep It Simple.
“[Students] respond overwhelmingly more positively when I give them something simple and practical to do in response to the call to evangelize.”
I really appreciated Dare 2 Share’s clear, intentional balance of both the teaching/training as well as the follow-up hands-on practical application. I know being able to hit the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver after having just discussed sharing our faith with others was one of the biggest highlights for many of our students.
